TRUMP PLANS "WILL END IN THE BUNKER"

Local residents have made preparations ahead of Donald Trump's visit today to the site of his proposed golf course in Aberdeenshire - preparations which will ensure once and for all that his project can never go ahead. The title for a section of land previously belonging to Michael Forbes has now been legally transferred to a long list of local and celebrity owners, all of whom support the local residents who do not wish to sell their homes. (1)

Donald Trump's master plan design for the area simply ignored these local families' homes, and his intention to evict residents has long been clear. The area covered by The Bunker is central to the Trump masterplan for the area, and his project cannot go ahead in the current form without access to it. The plot of land is an acre in size and is now collectively owned by more than 60 people, a majority of whom are from the North East, and all of whom are pledged to hold it in perpetuity to protect local residents.

The Bunker doesn’t just stop there, thousands of other potential sympathisers wishing to support the families under threat will be able to sign up online to be eventually be added the missives and help further bunker Donald Trump’s plans. We expect thousands to join.

In a poll last year, just 13% of Scots supported the compulsory purchases and evictions that would be required for the Trump project to go ahead, with 74% opposed, (2) and now a substantial majority of Scots oppose the project overall. (3) More than 16,000 people have also signed a petition to Aberdeenshire Council, urging them to protect local families from compulsory purchase, but the Council has so far refused to act. (4)

A group dedicated to stopping Donald Trump's golf project has said it has put a stumbling block in the way of the bid to buy extra land for the resort.

Tripping Up Trump has bought some of the land belonging to Michael Forbes, one of the residents refusing to sell.

The Trump Organisation said the move would have no impact on the project.

The latest twist came as Mr Trump flew in to Aberdeen to talk about his controversial seaside golf resort plan at Menie.

The American tycoon revealed the total cost of the project was likely to be nearer £750m, and announced the beach where the course is to be built would be named the Great Dunes of Scotland.

He wants to create the "world's greatest golf course" in Aberdeenshire.

The billionaire, and his son Donald Trump Jnr, arrived at Aberdeen Airport just after 1000 BST to speak to the media.

Mr Trump said: "This will be a masterpiece when it's completed."

He will spend the coming days viewing the site and the project's development

Tripping Up Trump said the new land deal with Mr Forbes was known as The Bunker.

It has bought an acre of land in what it calls the heartland of the planned Trump golf resort, and said the development cannot go ahead in its current form without access to it.

The group said that by putting the names of hundreds of protesters on the title deeds, it would create a massive legal headache for the Trump Organisation and Aberdeenshire Council if they were to pursue a compulsory purchase order for the site.
